My son the doctor! It has a nice ring to it, only we’re not talking medical doctor we are talking Phd, doctorate of philosophy. My son Christopher is an environmental biologist. The use of the term “philosophy” refers to the Greek meaning of the word connoting a general love of wisdom. Chris’s dissertation, which he will be presenting and defending at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana, has to do with aquatic ecosystems and the decaying of bugs and vegetation. It’s a little too technical for me to explain in a blog, so here is a link to his page at Notre Dame. Maybe I’ll be able to summarize his research more effectively after I hear his presentation on Thursday.
I’m proud of all my kids. They are great!

AHHHH! This once quiet little boy full of curiosity has fulfilled a dream.
Congratulations Christopher and welcome back to the place where it began.

Wow!
Will you tell your son congrats from your new found back brace buddy. From a gentleman his same age I can say I admire his accomplishment! I come from a long line of Doctors. Nine total, two of them being Dentist and seven Medical Doctors.
I myself choose a career in Law Enforcement, a detective. Not a doctorate but defiantly my place in life, I just fit. If he is happy is what counts I believe.
From reading your post and the bits you put of your family you all seem to be a very nice, well rounded, and happy crew. I would like to extend my greatest gratitude toward you because at no fault of your own you really helped me without even knowing. At the time I found your back brace post I was literally about to go insane and didn’t have anyone to vent to that could even remotely understand what I was going through. Just reading your post made a comforting feeling come over me. So thank you!
I wish you and your family well and I will look into one of your children’s books for my little girl and one day she will enjoy the story of how her daddy even came across the book.
Thanks,
Brian A. Wilson
