Geese, Rain, and Swimming Pools

It’s that time of year when large flocks of Canadian Geese arrive. It is amazing to see a huge flock take over a field. They are beautiful birds. They probably like all the mud and puddles that have taken over our landscape
Speaking of landscape, over the weekend I attended the annual Parole Rotary Club annual picnic at Leon Johnson’s home in Edgewater. If you’ve heard of Johnson Pools, you are familiar with Leon’s work. He is now retired but still enjoys the beautiful pool on his property with a lovely small waterfall and secret grotto. It’s very cool. Despite the rain showers, we stayed dry under the large pavilion and when the sun came out again, I was able to go for a dip.
Mark on your calendar now the next Parole Rotary Books for International Goodwill B.I.G. Book Sale. It is taking place on September 10th at 2000 Capital Drive, Annapolis, MD 21401. Over 75 thousand used books in good condition will be available!
The B.I.G. project has sent over 4.5 million books to developing countries and profits from this sale will go toward covering future shipping costs. Donations can be dropped off anytime at the shed next to the warehouse in Annapolis.
