Finished Your Taxes? Time to Relax

Yes, it’s that time of year again, the middle of April and time to file tax returns, or at the very least, file for an extension. I am the ultimate procrastinator when it comes to doing paperwork. Currently both my desk at home and my desk at the office are piled high with stacks of papers. I even have an overflow stack in our editorial meeting area so I have big plans this weekend for cleaning up that paperwork. After all, this year we have a few extra days. Instead of the April 15th required postmark, we have til April 18th!!!
There is plenty to distract, as far as goings on this weekend. I’m particularly attracted to the opening of the Bacon Ridge Branch Natural Area in Crownsville this Sunday (originally scheduled for Saturday but changed due to forecasted rainstorms.) The trails will be open from 7 a.m to 2:00 p.m. and dogs on leashes are welcome after 10:00 a.m. These trails are not usually open to the public and I love walking in the woods. Generally we’ve been making a habit of taking our golden retriever Grace for a walk along the trails at Greenberry Point on Sundays. She loves those trails and is constantly sniffing for the signs of deer and other wildlife that live there while meandering through puddles and rolling in the tall grass. Between the theater performances, galas, and fairs (even an adult easter egg hunt!) there’s a lot to choose from so if you live in the Chesapeake Bay region visit the calendar section of the www,WhatsUpMag.com site and make your choices.
