Despite the chilly, damp, raw weather (did I say cold), you know spring has arrived (at least in theory) when the Farmers’ Markets start to open for the season. Yes, this Saturday at 7:00 a.m. the Riva Road/Harry Truman Parkway Farmers’ Market will be opening with a selection of bedding plants, crafts, most likely hot house vegetables as well as seedlings to encourage you to start growing your own vegetables. It’s a nice way to start the weekend and revisit friends and vendors from the previous season.
If you are a regular reader of this blog you already know I have a special affinity for Farmers’ Markets. And if you’ve read my editor’s letter for April, you know that I’m probably in the market for a few plants to create the illusion that I have a green thumb. Having kicked the Flea Market habit, Farmers’ Markets allow me the opportunity to browse and buy stuff I know I need and will use–food and plants. So come check it out. You’ll need to be an early bird, get there before 11:00 and for a better selection before 9:00 a.m.
